The law provides for a full range of financial orders to be made where a civil partnership is dissolved, to include maintenance, lump sum, pension sharing and property transfer or sale orders. Again, the provisions for civil partners closely mirror the provisions for divorcing or separating partners and much of the information in the divorce and financial matters on separation or divorce sections will be relevant. Again, the legal process gives the courts a wide range of discretion, subject to consideration of a check list of factors, giving first consideration to the welfare of any children under 18.
